The lake is stocked with rainbow trout, whilst the river has a natural brown population, supplemented with carefully stocking of locally reared fish. Anglers can move between the river and the lake. Fishing is restricted to fly fishing only on both the lake and river.
The river trout season opens mid-April and closes on the 30th September, however, we do offer fly fishing for grayling throughout the winter months, so you have the opportunity to fish throughout the year.
Fly fishing for grayling in the winter is a quiet and ideal time to learn the art of fly fishing – by the time the trout season starts, you’ll have enough experience to anticipate landing a fish or two!
