Fishery Information

This water is members-only, no day tickets.

Appleton Reservoir (also known as Walton Reservoir) is located near to Walton Golf Course. The reservoir was formerly a put and take trout fishery. Since the water levels were increased, making a backcast impossible in places due to overhead powerlines, the club has now dedicated the water as a coarse fishery. Fishing is available on the ‘sandbank’ facing the dam wall. Alternatively, there are swims along the west bank in the reeds, although wellington boots or waders are recommended. There are shoals of quality roach in the reservoir, plus some good perch, odd bream and tench. The fishing is best when the water is coloured, when feeder fishing can be productive. There is a club-owned locked car park at one end of the reservoir.
