Fishery Information

Brereton is a 14 acre former sand quarry set within a country park in the heart of Cheshire. The water is generally very clear and virtually weed free, with depths ranging from just a couple of feet to over 30ft in some areas and an average of 15ft. The water needs careful plumbing and marker work to unlock its true potential, numerous bars, silt beds and gravel patches can be found by those willing to spend a little time and effort. Stocked with some stunning commons and mirrors which have attained weights to over 29lb. The fish are extremely hard fighting and use the deep margins to their obvious advantage when hooked. There have been reliable sightings of uncaught fish which have been estimated to be over the magical 30lb barrier, and with the opening of a new swim in a once unfished area of the lake, this season has the potential to throw up a surprise or two! The average size of the fish is around 16-18lb with a good head of 20lb+ fish. Roach, perch, tench, bream and pike are also present in the lake. Day tickets are available on the bank at £2.50 per rod, this will be collected by our local Bailiff. Day ticket anglers can only fish while the gates are open to the park, they cannot fish the swims on the right hand bank as these are for Society members only and they are not allowed to night fish. All Society rules must be obeyed by Day ticket anglers. There are two disabled swims on the lake with easy wheelchair access.
