Fishery Information

Jack’s Lake in Hertfordshire was originally created in the 1880s for Squire Charles Jack, who owned Beech Hill House. It is believed that there has been a lake on the property since the late 1600s. Today, the lake has 44 fishing spots, with 27 available for day ticket holders and the rest for club members. The main fish you can catch are carp (up to 26 pounds), bream (up to 7 pounds), and roach. There are also tench (up to 6 pounds), chub (up to 4 pounds), pike (up to 14 pounds), rudd, gudgeon, and occasionally eels and barbel. Fishing competitions are usually won with over 10 pounds of fish, but casual fishing trips often yield much more. People who specifically target carp often catch multiple fish.
