Church Stretton Camp & Fish (Oaklands) offers a tranquil retreat in the breathtaking surroundings of the south Shropshire hills. Whether you’re looking for a quiet midweek escape or a peaceful weekend getaway, this campsite provides a perfect base for outdoor activities such as woodland walks, countryside cycling, and castle exploration.
The campsite features meadow and woodland plots that accommodate tents and campervans. One of the highlights is the two-acre well-stocked specimen pool, which is home to mirror and common carp weighing up to 20 lbs, as well as other fish species. Additionally, there is a three-quarters of an acre pool that holds a mixed bag of mirror and common carp up to 7 lbs, along with other species. The smaller pool is particularly suitable for beginners and juniors, and onsite tuition is available upon prior booking.
In addition to fishing, guests can enjoy various activities on site, including swimming in the large lake (at their own risk), air rifle shooting, and quad bike hire (details available on the activities and prices page).
The campsite spans 40 acres of fields and is conveniently located a short drive from the popular Carding Mill Valley with its picturesque hills, as well as the town of Church Stretton, offering pubs, cafés, restaurants, and a supermarket. While the site is dog-friendly, it’s important to keep pets away from the lakes for safety reasons.
The site owners are friendly and dedicated to ensuring guests’ satisfaction. They offer additional amenities such as firepits and a basket of logs and kindling for campfires at a small extra cost.
The well-maintained facilities include toilets, two shower blocks, a washing-up area, chemical disposal, and the availability of electrical charging points for your devices.
