The specimen carp lake at Acorn Fishery is a highly sought-after venue, covering approximately 3.5 acres and offering 16 well-designed fishing pegs. The lake features a mix of smaller islands and a larger central island, providing numerous fishing opportunities along the margins and various features.

With a clay bottom, the lake has a combination of bars, shelves, and open flat areas, all easily accessible for anglers. In March 2019, the dedicated team at Acorn carried out significant improvements, including de-silting the lake, rebuilding swims, and replacing huts. These improvements not only enhanced the overall aesthetics but also provided an opportunity for a comprehensive health check of the fish stock.

The current fish stock in the specimen carp lake is truly impressive, boasting over 400+ stunning carp. The size of the carp ranges from approximately 15lb to 38lb+, with a substantial portion of the population in the mid to upper 20’s and 30’s. Anglers can expect to encounter a mix of beautifully scaled and powerful carp during their fishing sessions.

To maintain the balance and health of the fish population, the lake undergoes annual netting. This helps remove any smaller carp or fry, which are then transferred to smaller stock ponds, ensuring the continued growth and development of the fishery.
