Park View Lake

An old estate lake situated some 5 miles north or York. With a good head of bream, tench, roach, perch and a number of double figure carp and pike, this venue offers the pleasure and specimen angler a great deal of excellent sport.

Pegs 9 and 10 (on the concrete block) are for the use of disabled anglers, and should not be ‘match-pegged’.

Species and Tactics

Park View is probably the YDAA’s premier water for specimen carp, with a good number of double figure fish and some running to over 20lb. The water holds a good head of tench to 5lb and over, as well as bream to similar proportions. Most modern carp tactics are used on the lake, and the tench and bream respond well to float fished corn and bread flake. Large numbers of small roach and perch are also present which the pleasure angler can catch using waggler tactics with maggot or caster as bait. The lake also contains a reasonable population of pike in the 5-10lb weight bracket.

Directions

From the York outer ring road take the A64 to Scarborough. After approximately 2 miles take a right turn at the DEFRA Labs towards Sand Hutton. After the tight left-hand bend coming into Sand Hutton, pass through the village and take the second turn on the right. The lake is approximately three quarters of a mile down this lane, through a metal gate on the right hand side. Parking is available next to the lake. Please make sure the gate is closed after use.
