My Target Fish Died… (Spooky Pool)

This is not a video I ever wanted to make.

After multiple nights on Spooky Pool, chasing one of the most iconic ghost carp I’ve ever seen, my target fish died before I got the chance to catch it. What started as a proper obsession turned into a campaign I’ll never forget, with big highs, hard blanks, special captures, and then a phone call I never wanted to receive.

In this video I go through the full journey on Spooky Pool so far, from the very first trips, the fish I did manage to catch, the winter struggles, the special ghosties and commons, and the moment everything changed. This lake got right under my skin. Anybody who knows me knows how much I love a ghost carp, and Spooky Pool had some of the most unique ones I’ve ever laid eyes on.

Across multiple nights I managed 6 fish, including an incredible fully scaled ghost carp, a stunning 42lb 6oz ghosty, and several proper character-filled commons. But the dream was always the same – to catch one of the huge 50lb ghost carp that made this place so famous. Sadly, that dream is now gone.

Massive respect to Jack as well for being honest and transparent throughout everything. Spooky Pool is still an unbelievably special place with some incredible carp still swimming, but this chapter hit hard and I wanted to tell the story properly.

This video covers:

My 25-night Spooky Pool campaign
The hunt for the lake’s huge ghost carp
The fish I caught along the way
Winter sessions, blanks and big moments
The sad loss of my target fish
Why Spooky Pool still means so much to me

If you enjoy carp fishing, big fish campaigns, ghost carp, intimate venues and real fishing stories, this one means a lot.
