🎣 Cool Acres – Luxury Lodges, Big Carp & Proper Fishing | Parker Baits

Today you join me down Cool Acres, and I am absolutely buzzing.

This place is genuinely one of the cleanest, smartest venues I’ve ever been to. We’re talking luxury lodges, private pegs, and yes… a jacuzzi right next to the lake. There are five lodges on this lake, just under an acre in size, but we’ll get into the fishing properly a bit later on.

First things first—let’s have a look inside the lodge.

We’ve got a cooker, kettle, fridge, comfy sofa, TV, and a proper double bed. If you’re coming with your missus, this place is absolutely perfect. There’s even an ensuite, which I’ll show you later. Everything is spotless. Honestly, it’s proper luxury fishing.

Outside, they’ve even got a fully stocked terminal tackle shed—hooks, zigs, splicing needles, bait drills, shrink tube, foam nuggets, leads… even propolis (or however you say it 😅). If you forget anything, you’re covered.

🚿 Facilities Tour – This Place Is Plush

There’s a proper shower block—clean, modern, and well looked after. Decking everywhere, great lighting, and everything feels premium.

And yes… there’s a pub and restaurant on site. Karaoke nights, quiz nights, bingo—the lot. That alone makes this place dangerous.

🎤 Talking to the Owners – What Cool Acres Is About

I sat down with the family who own the venue, and you can tell straight away how much they’ve invested into this place over the last three years. New paths, new pegs, tree planting, touring park, glamping pods—constant improvements.

The Lakes:

Paradise Lake – Day ticket, carp to mid-teens, tench to 6lb

Fox Lake – Around 5 acres, 17 pegs, multiple 30s, a 42lb ghostie, and catfish up to 70lb

Kingfisher Lake – About an acre, 7 pegs, carp to 37lb

Lodge Lake – Mirrors to 37lb, commons over 30lb, loads of 20s

🎣 Fishing Tactics – What I’m Doing

I started on zigs—twice the depth—but it was slow. After playing around with depths, I dropped one down and within five minutes… I lost one. Absolutely gutted.

I’m fishing:

16lb zig line

Barbless setup (barb crimped)

Red maggots flossed carefully to keep them alive and mobile

Lead clip trimmed so the lead ejects on the take

I’d rather lose a lead than lose a carp. Simple as that.

🍔 Food, Chaos & Parker Baits Energy

Chicken burgers, garlic bread, chips, square pizza… absolute carnage. Diet completely gone. The lads are asleep, the alarms are tempting, and yes—there were thoughts of an alarm prank.

Morning comes, coffee supplied in the lodge (classy touch), bacon and sausages on, wraps with a lake view. Doesn’t get much better.
