FAMILY CARP HOLIDAY IN FRANCE 🇫🇷 | Beau Lac North – Double Take & a 37-02!
Hey guys, Ben here from Parker Baits. This week we’re in sunny France on a proper family holiday with the Taylor crew at Beau Lac North – a private lake with two lovely gîtes and a covered pool. We paid like everyone else, turned up, and were blown away by how clean, safe and well-kept the place is. The plan was simple: holiday first, fishing second… but the lake still delivered with a DOUBLE TAKE and a 37-02 mirror!

Beau Lac North (Dordogne, France) – small, intimate water with exclusive-use lodge(s). Bait boats allowed. There’s a separate “fun” lake on the estate for kids/roach and another larger lake on site for those chasing bigger fish. Exactly our kind of family-friendly venue.
TACTICS & RIGS
• Middle “slick” spot made with a heavy introduction early week, then rested
• Solid bags and short booms for quick bites when we saw fizz
• “Match-the-hatch” wafters and yellow/pink toppers on key rods
• Bait boat for stealth placement and perfect line lay when needed
• Keep roaming rods honest—don’t ignore what the wind and fizz tell you
GEAR WE USED (typical for our sessions)
• Rods/Reels: 12–13ft carp rods, big-pit reels
• Lines/Leaders: 15lb mainline, short booms where used
• Rigs: solid bag rigs, simple wafters, fluorocarbon/boom combos
• Bait Boat: RT4 for stealthy drops

• “Is a bait boat allowed?” – Yes here, and it was key for sneaking a rod onto fizz without spooking fish.
• “How much bait did you actually use?” – Front-load one big hit (personal preference on week sessions), then top up lightly after bites. If you’re unsure or on smaller stocks, halve it and build in sessions.
• “Kids on site?” – Absolutely. Between the pool, the little species lake and short local trips (zip-line/lakeside swim), the girls were buzzing all week.
• “Do I have to fish margins only?” – Don’t be afraid of the featureless-looking middle. Build your own spot; watch for naturals and oil slicks.
