Ah, what a labour of love this film has been, and what an adventure it became.Our journey began in the year 2023, upon a small quiet pit in the heart of Oxfordshire. From the outset, things did not unfold as planned, but not, perhaps, for the wrong reasons.
We found ourselves at a crossroads. Yet, as the old saying goes, “everything happens for a reason.” With that truth in mind, Terry closed one chapter and opened another, this time upon a wild pit, steeped in history and home to some of the finest carp the UK has to offer.
It had been many a year since Terry Hearn last travelled north in pursuit of carp, but with the Oxfordshire campaign drawing to a close before it ever truly began, the road soon led him onward racking up the miles to the Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire border.
He passed by many a tempting lake on his way, but it was clear there was something special etched firmly in his thoughts. And rightly so. For as the tale unfolds, a procession of ancient carp found their way to Terry’s net, each one a story in itself, as we follow him on his quest for “Ole Slopey.”
And if that weren’t enough, we cast a backward glance to his forgotten adventure at Oxland… for every step of the journey holds a tale worth telling.
