About Box Brook
Box Brook, managed by Bathampton Angling Association, is a beautiful river perfect for traditional fly fishing for Brown Trout and Grayling.
The river is spring-fed and made of limestone, which means it has a lot of insects for the fish to eat. It’s known for having a great mayfly hatch and lots of wild trout that jump out of the water.
If you want to fish at Box Brook, you’ll need to use a fly rod. It costs £35 to fish on both parts of the river, and you need to be a member of the angling association. You can only fish during the day, from sunrise to sunset.
Unfortunately, there aren’t any facilities at the river, and it’s not accessible for people with disabilities.
The fishing season runs from April 1st to October 15th. You can get a permit from Adrian Wallace, who lives in Bath. It costs £35 for adults and £15 for juniors, in addition to the club membership fee. If you want to bring guests, you can get two free guest permits if you help with bank clearance work parties.
There are two parts of the river to fish in. Beat 1, called Shockerwick, is accessed by turning left off the A4 road. Beat 2, Middlehill, is accessed by turning left past Shockerwick.
Overall, Box Brook is a great place to fish for trout and grayling in a beautiful, natural setting.
