About Buckshole Reservoir

Buckshole Reservoir in East Sussex is located in Alexandra Park in Hastings. It is about 4 acres in size and goes down to a depth of 16 feet.

Since 2003, the reservoir has been stocked with fast-growing carp. Some of these carp now weigh over 20lbs, with a few even reaching over 30lbs. A total of 82 carp have been stocked in the past 15 years, and more stockings are planned for the next two years to improve the water even further.

The initial stockings were done with fish from Marc Simmonds, and later stockings were done with fish from VS fisheries. The VS fisheries stockings included some beautiful mirror and common carp, with two of them already close to 30lbs.
