Some impressive fishing records have been set at Gold Valley Lakes. For example, Peg 10 holds the record for the biggest catch in the Angling Times Winter League at 174 lbs. And Peg 15 holds the UK record for the most fish caught in a 4 ½ hour match at 308 lbs-13oz.

Many anglers have caught over 100 lbs of fish in a single match from every peg on Gold Lake. One memorable catch was 98 lbs of Bream from peg 6, caught by Dave Schofield.

There are a few different ways to fish at Gold Lake. You can use a float rod to catch fish close to the shore, or fish with a feeder or big float for bigger catches. The pole fishing at Gold Lake is also very good, with the chance to catch roach, bream, perch, tench, crucians, and carp.

Many anglers come to Gold Lake for overnight or long stays to try and catch big carp. Using two rods with boilies or meat can result in personal best catches.
