About Lower Itchen Fishery
Lower Itchen Fishery in Hampshire offers great dry fly fishing for brown trout on 5 different sections of the river. The river has lots of ranunculus plants and the grass is cut in the traditional way. Each section of the river has something different to offer, like fast water, deep pools, and white water pools. Four of the sections can be fished from both sides, with footbridges to help you get around. The fifth section is only fished from one side, with the other side left natural for birds and insects. There is a Fishing Lodge and BBQ area in the middle of all 5 sections. The fishery stocks the river regularly with high-quality brown trout, up to 5lbs in size. They only stock brown trout, not rainbow trout, to help the wild trout that already live in the river. Most trout weigh around 2lbs, but there are some bigger ones later in the season. The biggest brown trout caught here was 8lbs.
