About River Valley Lake & River Blackwater

River Valley Lake in Hampshire is a twenty acre lake that is known for its pike fishing. The lake has been stocked with pike weighing over twenty pounds, making it a great spot for both experienced anglers and beginners. There are also carp weighing over thirty pounds and tench in double figures. Junior members can fish at River Valley Lake as long as they are accompanied by a senior member.

The lake also has a small number of high quality carp, including Mirror Carp up to 40lb and Common Carp up to mid 30’s, as well as Perch up to 4lb 8oz and Tench up to 12lb. Some large Pike up to mid twenties have also been stocked in the lake.

The nearby River Blackwater has Chub, Roach, Gudgeon, Dace and Pike up to mid 20’s. It can be fished from the wooden fence near the entrance to the site through to the end of the main lake. The deep water and abundant weed in this river make for an interesting challenge, with the chance to catch some impressive Carp and other species.

River Blackwater is a popular spot for pike fishing in the winter, with plenty of little Rudd for live baiting. It is recommended to follow the wind for locating the carp, as they tend to move around. Specialist tactics may be required to catch other species, such as Rudd.
