About Appleton Reservoir
Appleton Reservoir, also known as Walton Reservoir, is a fishing spot near Walton Golf Course in Cheshire. It used to be a place where people could catch trout and pay for their catch, but now it’s only open to members of a fishing club.
When the water levels were raised, it made it difficult to fish in some areas because of power lines overhead. So now, the club has decided to focus on coarse fishing instead. You can fish in a spot called the ‘sandbank’ near the dam wall, or along the west bank where the reeds are. It’s a good idea to wear boots or waders if you fish in the reeds.
You can find lots of roach in the reservoir, as well as perch, bream, and tench. Fishing is best when the water is murky, and using a feeder can help you catch more fish. There’s a car park that belongs to the club, but it’s locked so only members can use it.
