About Turnford Complex – Marsh Pit
The Turnford Complex – Marsh Pit in Hertfordshire is a great spot for nature lovers. It is protected under SSSI rules, so we can’t do much to change the banks and surroundings. There are platforms on one end for fishing, and swims cut into the bank on the other sides.
The pit is shallow with islands, arms, and reed-lined bays, making it a diverse and interesting fishing spot. You can find Carp up to 40lbs, as well as Rudd and Tench, which are great for summer fishing. Even in winter, you can still catch a lot of fish.
Rudd are easy to catch and can be found all over the pit. Tench are a bit more selective, but with some effort, you can catch fish up to 8lbs. Bream, Roach, and Perch are also present, but not as common.
There are a lot of Pike in the pit, likely because of the abundance of Rudd. The bank parallel to the path and the bottom bay have the deepest water where you’ll find Pike. The lake holds the Consortium Pike record of 31lbs.
