Rydal Water in Cumbria, near Grasmere, is a great place for fishing. It has lots of roach, perch, and big pike. Some pike weigh over thirty pounds, and many are over twenty pounds. You can catch lots of doubles here too.

You can fish here all year round, but summer fishing with lures from a boat is best. In the winter, using dead bait can also work well.

Not many people fish here for other types of fish, but the roach are big, with some weighing up to 2 pounds. The perch are also big, with some weighing up to 3 pounds.

You can easily access the lake from the roadside or from the outflow to the end of the footpath. The rest of the shoreline is private.

You can rent boats at Grasmere village, but you need to book ahead. Call 015394 35060 to book.

The main issue with fishing at Grasmere is the lack of parking. There are only two laybys that can fit three cars each. If they’re full, you’ll have to park in Grasmere village or at the White Moss car park near Rydal Water. Both options are expensive and require a long walk with your fishing gear.
