About Charlton Ponds
Charlton Ponds in Yorkshire is a beautiful two lake complex surrounded by mature woodland. The lakes were created when a clay pit was flooded in the 1930s.
The Small Pond has 22 fishing spots with paths all around for easy access. Two pegs, 21 and 22, are specially designed for wheelchair users. This pond is stocked with carp up to 5lb, crucian carp, roach, rudd, ide, perch, tench, bream, and gudgeon. It’s a great spot for anglers of all levels, and there are regular junior matches on Saturday mornings in the summer. The best weight recorded in a senior event here is 54lb in a 3-hour evening match.
The Large Pond, covering six acres, is perfect for both pleasure and specimen fishing. Specimen anglers can find carp up to 30lb, bream up to 9lb, and tench up to 7lb. These fish can be caught using various methods and baits. In the summer, excellent catches can be made just a short distance from the bank. This pond is also starting to see a good number of silvers.
