About Ardleigh Reservoir Fishery Office
Ardleigh Reservoir is a popular fishing spot located near Colchester in Essex. The reservoir was opened in 1971 and is known for its large variety of fish including carp, pike, bream, roach, rudd, perch, tench, and eels.
There are two smaller lakes, Ramada Lake and Wick Lane Lake, which are also great for fishing. Ramada Lake is perfect for beginners while Wick Lane Lake is popular for match anglers.
Permits can be purchased at the Fishing Lodge or at a self-service kiosk. Anglers can fish from dawn until dusk with a permit, and night fishing is only allowed for season permit holders.
The only time fishing is not allowed is during the pike close season in March and April. Boats are available for hire, except during the pike close season, and must be booked at least 48 hours in advance.
